This year, there is already a 25-day delay in publishing the results of the UPSC CSE mains.
Currently, the due date is January 10th.
Reason Behind the delay of the result UPSC CSE Mains 2019?
Update according to the newspaper report: The result will be delayed due to an ongoing case in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) on the EWS quota. The case is pending before the CAT filed by UPSC candidates attached to the EWS quota. Cat will deliver his final verdict on January 9, 2020, which is expected to bring more clarity on EWS.
Following the CAT judgment, the UPSC can publish the results, taking into account various aspects of the decision. Candidates are expected to receive UPSC Mains 2019 results at any date between 9-14 January.
How long does UPSC takes to publish the main test results?
UPSC usually takes only 2.5 months to evaluate mains' answers. Last year, UPSC published mains results in 74 days. Based on that logic, the mains result is expected to be published between December 12–15, 2019.
This year, however, UPSC has delayed publishing CSE mains results.
UPSC CSE Interview / Personality Test (2019-20)-Dates
Successful candidates' personality test is expected to begin on February 10, 2020.
You will notice that this is an approximation based on previous year’s trends.
Since there are approximately 2000+ candidates for the interview - 30 minutes for each candidate - the entire process of the UPSC interview can take up to 50 days.
UPSC CSE 2019 final result expected date
Around March 31st.
Once the final result is published, the UPSC will release a mark list of candidates who will attend the prelims, mains and interviews in 2019.
