The first Public Service Commission was established on October 1926. After independence, Public Commission was established on 26 October 1950 under constitutional provisions. It was given constitutional status as well as autonomy so that it could recruit qualified officers without any pressure. This newly established Public Service Commission was named the Union Public Service Commission.
Time-honoured in 1926, the civil service exam was transformed in the post-independent period. It was Sardar Patel who supported the adoption of All India Services in newly dominant India for the steady functioning of the administration.

Constitutional Provision:
It is a constitutional body as it is established under Article 315 of the Constitution. The general commission consists of 9 to 11 members including the chairman, the Union Public Service Commission is the main institution for the recruitment of civil servants who conduct various administrative examinations in the central and union territories.
UPSC stages:
There are three stages to this exam. There are three stages of this CSE(Committee on Special Education) exam. The three stages are namely.,

Eligibility for IAS

Educational Qualification
There is a wrong feeling about the educational qualification of the civil services exam. This exam is not like the Banking or CA exam where only graduates or post-graduates are qualified for the examination. But for the UPSC exam, there are no such restrictions. Graduation is required for the preliminary exams and also graduation is the only need for any other civil service exam.
The exam syllabus is too vast and time isn't sufficient for it, that's why it's hard to crack the exam in very first attempt. Therefore you should study hard because there is an age limit for each category. Up to that age, you can apply for the civil services exam.

The aspirant must be graduated.
The aspirants who had written the final exam of graduation or the students who are going to attend the finals exam of graduation can also apply for the civil services exam but they must have an evidence that they had passed the exam.
Aspirants with a professional or technical credential which are accepted the Government as equivalent to professional degrees are also eligible.
Negative marking
There is in this exam i.e. 1/3 i.e 33 percent of the total mark of question are subtracted in negative marking. If the question is of 2 Mark's then 1/3 of it means 0.66 Mark's will be subtracted from 2 Mark's.
OMR sheet
You can only use a black pen to fill the OMR sheet. Because the OMR software is developed as it reads only dark mark. Always use a ballpoint with a black medium nib. A simple watch is allowed in the examination hall but a smartwatch is prohibited in the examination hall.

- Paper I - Syllabus - current affairs, history of Indian, India and world geography, physical, social and ecological geography, Indian polity, general issues and general science.
2. Paper-II - You should score 33 per cent to .qualify.
