A series was conducted by the Britishers in three sessions, namely, first round table conference, second round table conference and third round table conference. The series was conducted to consider the future of the constitution of India.

Babasaheb Ambedkar and Tej Bahadur Sapru were the only men who attended all the three round table conferences.
Second round table conference
At the time of the second round table conference, Lord Irwin was renewed by Lord Wellington, he stayed the Viceroy of India till 1936. The second round table conference was carried in London from 7, 1931 to 1 December 1931. Gandhi was representing INC(Indian National Conference) in the second round table conference. This is the first and the last time when Gandhi went to the round table conference.
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru drafted a resolution on the Fundamental Rights and Economic Program at the Karachi Session of Congress, chaired by Sardar Vallabhhai Patel in 1931. M.A. in making this proposal. N. Rai helped Nehru. Gandhi Irwin Pact was accepted in this session and Gandhiji was allowed to participate in the Second Round Table Conference. At this time Gandhi had said that "Gandhi can die, but not Gandhism."
The Second Round Table Conference took place on September 7, 1931 AD. Mahatma Gandhi participated in it as the representative of the Congress, but this conference failed due to communal representation.

Failure of the Second Round Table Conference
The committee was deadlocked on the minorities, the problem for distinct electorate now was being requested by the Muslims, Dalits, Christians and Anglo-Indians. The result was the end I the conference at December 1, 1931. Gandhi returned to India with nothing in hands. This also caused the 'Poona Pact'.
