So, our today's article is about Good Governance Day. Many things to explore.

Good Governance Day(GGD) is celebrated on 25th of December every year to award accountability in government among the Indian Peoples. The day is 25th December is chemistry anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On 25th of December 2014, National Good Governance Day was established by the Government of India on the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. 

In the year 2014 Former PMO(Prime Minister Of) India Atal Bihari Vajpayee was awarded with the highest civilian award if the country(India) along with Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya. As a tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the Modi Government announced the birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee as Good Governance Day in India.

History

In the year 2014, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Madan Mohan Malaviya(after death) were awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the country India.
The same year the Modi government announced that Good Governance Day will be celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of the former prime minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Objectives of Good Governance Day

Here are some important objectives of the good governance day. 
  • To make people aware.
  • Make people aware about the commitment to providing a transparent and responsible administration in the country.
  • To enhance the interest and the development of the people.
  • To standardise the government functioning.
  • To make effective and responsible governance for the citizen of the country.
  • To make and implement good and effective policies.
  • To make the growth and progress in the country.
  • To make the citizens nearer to the government.

  • 13th October 1999, Become Prime Minister of India for Second Time.
  • Prime minister for short period in the year 1966.
  • First Prime Minister to become Prime Minister of India for two consecutive times.
  • Elected in the Lok Sabha for Indians and twice for Rajya Sabha.
  • Joined the India movement in the year 1942 when he was a child.
  • Joined the Bharatiya Janta Sangh(now Bharatiya Janata Party) in the year 1951.
  • Honoured with Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civil award.
  • 1994, named as India's 'Best Parliamentarian'.


(Important to Note: Atal Bihari Vajpayee has served Prime Minister of India for the shortest period i.e, for 13 days approximately in the year 1996. Then he again served as the Prime Minister of India for 13 months from 1998 to 1999. Finally, He served as the Prime Minister of India fora  complete period of 5 years from 1999 to 2004, for the last time in his life.)
