Shivaji Maharaj

Chhatrapati Shivaji was one of the brave rulers of India. Chhatrapati Shivaji was born on 16 February 1630 in Shivneri Fort. Charapati Shivaji was the founder of the Maratha Empire. The birthday of Chhatrapati Shivaji is also known as Shiva Jayanti and Shivaji Jayanti. Shivaji Jayanti is celebrated in the traditional manner in Maharashtra. Today is a public holiday in Maharashtra. Shivaji was known for his courage and tact, from which he won many battles over the Mughals. Chhatrapati Shivaji is famous for his Swaraj and Maratha heritage.

It is believed that Lord Shiva was born in the name of Lord Shiva, but this is not so. In fact, Shivaji's mother worshiped Shivaji for a son and named him Shivaji.

Shivaji Maharaj married Saibai Nimbalkar on 14 May 1640. Shivaji taught the fighting skills of the Marathas like guerrilla warfare. He formed a very large army of Marathas.

Shivaji believes in people of all religions. His army also included many Muslim soldiers. Their main aim was to defeat the Mughal army and establish the Maratha Empire.

Shivaji also respected women. He protested against many violence, exploitation and humiliation against women. Their state was punished as a result of the violation of women's rights.

Today is Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti. Born in Pune on February 19, 1630, Shivaji Maharaj dreamed of united India and Swaraj and built the Maratha Empire. Shivaji Maharaj was brave, intelligent, heroic and revered as the greatest king of history. During the reign of Shivaji Maharaj there was justice for the common people and hence he is still called as the King. He is still worshiped in Maharashtra. Shivaji's father, Shahaji, is the son of mother Jizabai. His birthplace is the Shivneri Fort near Pune.

He was crowned Raigad in 1674 and became "Chhatrapati". Many call him the Emperor of the Hindu Heart and some call him the Maratha Pride.
